BeaverTails

Not much going on here today in the rain. Once the beach opens up there will be a lineup.
The Ottawa novelty has come to Grand Bend, BeaverTails...at the capital President Obama was a regular there...George

Lauch day GBYC - Grand Bend

The GBYC ready to start season.
Today the boats go in at Grand Bend. I stopped by yesterday on the way home to see if I still recognize any of the boats...boy the water is high...George

Boats begin to line up for today's launch.

A Bayfield Launch

Dave and Brad heat towards the dock. I took this photo before grabbing there lines on the dock.
Yesterday I was up to Bayfield to help my friend Dave launch his boat...I remember the days that would be me getting ready for another season...George

A Trip to Visit Friends

A visit with Brad and Jill. Brad and I have been friends since high school.
A drive up to Goderich to visit with boating friends at a social distance. It was nice to get together even if it was for a short time...it was last September we last visited...George

This was a great tasting wine that of course was emptied in a hurry.

Bayfield today

Three boats are in the lakefront basin Bayfield.
Susanne and I stopped by the docks we once kept our boat at in Bayfield. We actually wanted to gather a few rocks from the pier area. To our surpise there was a few people on the beach and also in the water. Three boats are in the basin...this is a very late start to boating 2020...George

The beaches are basically empty other than one family in the water.

The Only Show in Town

As seen on the news.
It appears we do have a choice to see a movie if they decide to release new ones soon. The National News this week pointed out the Twilight drive-in is open and a good choice for social distancing...George Dutka

Past May 24 Weekends

Here we are in 2012 Susanne and Mark are with me for the GBYC Commodore's sail past on the May 24 weekend. It must have been warm Mark has his shirt off. By the way this is our old boat and Kyle's new one at that time. So were are all the kids including Kyle...on my boat drinking all the booze.
I just realized this is the first May 24 weekend in 20 years that our family is not at the lake. Since we sold the boat trips to the lake will be a lot less and with Covid-19 boating will be different for those still at it...George

Need a Boat

Do you need a new boat?
My sister Kathy passed along these photos when back from their trip to Lithuania about 10 years ago. It is funny to see the condition of the boats on the beach. If that was here they would be long gone. Maybe someone will get a great deal on a used boat...George

That is my niece Margret with maybe her new boat.

Alone Together

Here is a link to a video made by a New Yorker of London...my Huff and Puff friend Tom sent this to me...thanks Tom...George

We had a visitor in our neighborhood yesterday...on our backyard neighbors roof and fence...George

Pt Stanley Today

A look towards the harbour entrance.
Susanne and I drove down to Pt. Stanley today. The lift bridge is out till next year so the alternate route is required. One can not park anywhere at the moment with everything being off limits. We took a drive by the waterfront cottages and to our surprise not many did not have a car in the driveway or someone out on the porch....interesting as no one was suppose to be up at the lake...George

Grand Bend Sunsets

I took this shot from my boat about 15 minutes after the sun had set in Grand Bend, July 2009. Maybe the best afterglow I have ever seen.
Up at the lake with son in law Kyle and Bruno. we are on the south beach for the sunset. I don't think I missed a sunset when I was up at the lake. Summer 2009

Susanne and I at the Bend. We would walk down from our boat to catch the show as much as possible. The sun is almost down during this 2009 view.

What Snow?

Can't believe what I am seeing...it is May 11th...George

My working days

This is 1985...don't remember being this young. My friend Peter Mumby took this shot of me at the Ford Talbotville yard which I was the engineman on the afternoon job.
I found a slide box of photos from my working days...with not much going on at the moment I decided to scan a few...George

I am on a freight engine, train #399 Dec 16, 1999...ten years before I retired.
I was working a passenger extra out of London to Sarnia with the CN vice-president on board. My father in law was the engineman. Chris Martin from the engineering department took the photo in March 1984.
