Berry Picking

Owen with his load.
Last weekend we did something we have not tried before...blueberry picking at Parks near Chatham...George

Susanne is carrying the buck now...note the netting to keep the birds out.

Easy picking for us this day.

Grace showing off her berries...we picked just over 6 lbs.

Heading out.

Grand Bend

Was surprised to see this popular restaurant location gone.
I stopped in today at Grand Bend as I have not been there much the last few years. I was surprised that the Sunset Cafe is gone...not just the business but the whole building...not sure what will go up in it's place. I also checked out the new band shell and stopped by the GBYC...noted some of the long time members boats are up for sale...George
The same view as above in 2012...note the tree location in both photos...surprised they saved it.
The new Grand Bend band shell.

The concert lineup.

Last Week at the Beach

Grace and Owen playing in the waves.
Dee and the kids spent a night then a couple days later Kyle is up with the kids...here are the photos from the day's at the lake...George

Kyle's day with the kids at the lake.

Pizza for supper.

Goofing off.

Getting all the stuff together to take to grandpa's boat...Grace is showing off her new school bag.

Stormy Days

Kyle and the grand kids headed for home just before the rain began...you can see it in the background. We were sitting on the beach a short time before this.
After a dry June and July boy we are making up for it in August...storm after storm...George

A storm is rolling into Bayfield. The wind is now howling as this boat makes a run for the harbor...he made it as the rain starts.
Another afternoon storm rolling in to Bayfield.

Storm on the horizon at sunset time last week.

Saying

Feeling a little lonely...if you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.

Declan is now Three

The big guy is now three with ice cream cake for all.

Party shots from the Weekend

Me in my new Muskoka Brewery tee and grandpa Denis hold down the bar top..

The stripe team...guess they did not talk it though.

Owen and Kingston hiding out.

Ryan cooking

More Cake Please

William had his fill of ice cream cake at cousin's Declan's birthday Aug 6th.

Trip to Muskoka

The locks at Port Carling...a really nice place to visit.
Mid week last week Susanne and I took a run up to Muskoka coming back through Wasaga Beach and Collingwood...nice but short ride in the PT convertible...George

We spent the night in Gravenhurst. Here I am dockside near the steam boat museum.
We hoped to have a ride on the 150 year old steam ship (I also know the captain) but this view was from us having lunch. With a full day planned we never got back for the next sail. As you can see there is a full load boarding.

The entrance to Gravenhurst...we stayed at the Howard Johnson's next to this archway.

We sampled some beer at the Muskoka Brewery located in Bracebridge and came away with a tee-shirt each.

A scenic tour boat arrives in Pt. Carling. The weekend coming up was the wooden boat festival in town.
Bala Ontario is the cranberry capital of Canada and this the the winery which processes a lot of the berries...we picked up three bottle as it tasted really good during sampling.

Looking out at the cranberry bogs...they will be all red in a couple of months.

Leaving Collingwood we came across this beer hops field. I did not know they grow up on vines.

Dingy Ride for the kids

Jamie took the gang out in the dingy after dinner on the Civic Holiday long weekend for a paddle...George

Port Dover

This is the only beach in Ontario that I know of that has palm trees...they take them out for the winter and then reappear in the spring. Nicole and Nathan pose for the camera.
Today we headed out to Port Dover with our daughter Nicole and her guy Nathan for a nice fish dinner...a nice drive with numerous stops...George

Walking the pier one finds various opportunity for boat rides.
We stopped by a local Port Dover winery on the way home...leaving with two more bottles.

Boy's Weekend

A really nice sunset.
Jamie and grandson Kingston came up for an over-nighter at the boat. A really nice visit, but busy. To our surprise there was a great fireworks display...as good as the one for July 1st in Grand Bend...George

Marking the day on the beach.

Not sure what type of egg this is but sure not for eating.

Flying high

A long walk on the beach...way to rough out on the lake for this little guy.

Last Sunset of July 2016

Last sunset of the month was interesting as we avoided the rain all day which fell all around us.
We took in the last sunset of July with our two grandchildren Owen and Grace. They stayed over on our boat with Dee as we had air conditioning and it sure was a humid day...Kyle and Bruno headed for home with Paul...George
Owen`s bow and arrow pose.

More of the same.

CIvic Holiday at the Lake

Devin and William at the wheel.
On Sunday a good size gang gathered at our two boats for some beach time and a BBQ...we did not get out on the lake as there was just too many of us...good time anyhow...George

Kyle Bruno and Owen at the lake`s edge.
Kingston leads the way to the lake...don`t think he need the wand to find the water.

Our Jamie helping with the sausages and wieners. Kyle has James old BBQ for use at the lake.

The other Jamie with the third bottle of wine of the day.
