MAI-KAI Mystery Drink

The Mystery Drink
Around since the 1950's the MAI-KAI has attracted traffic to its restaurant with a mystery drink. At the Molokai bar the drink is the biggest drink they offer and is suggested for a group of four (for $49). It includes 9 ounces of booze and is delivered in an elaborate ritual including a gong being struck, a tiki bowl aflame delivered by a sarong wearing maiden to get the party started. The mystery drink event has been seen several times on the Tonight Show. The drink still inspires a sense of wonder and might be a stop I will make at some point in Ft. Lauderdale. The nightly show is reportedly worth the trip alone. Located on 3599 N. Federal Hwy....George

Tequila Sunrise

This is a nice drink made popular at the Trident bar in Sausalito, California by the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger adopted the name and made it famous as the unofficial drink for their 1972 tour which Keith Richards claimed was nicknamed “the cocaine and Tequila Sunrise tour”. It is made with ice, tequila, grenadine and orange juice...George

A simple drink using three ingredients.

If you don't want a big one why not try shots.

Vintage Trailers

Susanne and I attended the arts and crafts festival in Dorchester this weekend and came across a photo-booth set up in a retro 1960's trailer. He has restored a few older trailers for various uses including a bar. I mentioned this old 1940's or 1950's trailer in Bayfield that looked like it needed something...George

Finding Beach Glass - Marblehead, Mass.

In this small area were Susanne and Ruby are walking we found a pocket full of beach glass in less than 5 minutes.
Last fall Susanne and I stopped in at Marblehead, Mass. a nice sailing hangout and harbor north of Boston. It is also noted in many beach glass guides  as a great beach glass destination. We actually did not make it to the beach but the two coves we visited was loaded with white, blue and amber glass...George

If one looks close you may spot about 4-5 pieces of beach glass in this one little location.

Not only are there beach glass but along the shore is a wide variety of shells.
Marblehead is a real scenic location and if you like sailboats there is lots as one can see in the photo.
